Description

Objectives: Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase catalytic subunit alpha (PIK3CA) is commonly altered in many human tumors, leading to the activation of p110 enzymatic activity that stimulates growth factor-independent cell growth. PIK3CA alterations such as mutation, gene amplification and overexpression are common in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and. We aim to explore how these alterations and clinical outcome are associated, as well as the molecular mechanisms involved.

Description

P. falciparum NF54 proliferates under micro-aerophilic conditions in an environment of 3% O2, 4% CO2, 93% N2. This strain was gradually adapted to proliferate under standard tissue culture conditions of 5% CO2/95% air (~19% O2) to generate P. falciparum HOX. We compared global gene expression profiles of the two strains to identify differences, if any.

Description

Expression profiles in mouse liver exposed to long-term gamma-irradiation were examined to assess in vivo effects of low dose-rate radiation. Three groups of male C57BL/6J mice were exposed to whole body irradiation at dose-rates of 17-20 mGy/day, 0.86-1.0 mGy/day or 0.042-0.050 mGy/day for 401-485 days (cumulative doses were approximately 8 Gy, 0.4 Gy or 0.02 Gy, respectively).
